SuzieQ’s Story

Growing up with six other sisters, you’d think I would have learned to bake early on—but not quite. I watched my mom tackle the obligatory holiday treats, but with so many kids around, she didn’t have much time to give baking lessons.

After I left home and became a single mom to three boys, baking still wasn’t a priority. Between occasional birthday cakes and simple cookies, my efforts were limited. I remember proudly making a bunny cake for Easter one year, only for a friend to laugh at it. While it stung a little, it also discouraged me from trying much beyond chocolate chip cookies or boxed brownies.

Everything changed when the grandkids came along (nine so far!). Babysitting them sparked a new interest in baking—it’s what grandmas are supposed to do, right? The more I baked, the more I loved it. I practiced constatly, sharing my creations with friends and family and soaking up their feedback. Soon, I found myself diving into online “how-to” videos, obsessively scrolling Instagram reels, and binge-watching every baking show I could find.

Now, baking is my passion. Every day, I can’t wait to step into my kitchen and create something special. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m still learning and loving every moment of it.
